Children placed at Kleos
Children's Community arrive here by one of two means: they are placed privately or
placed by the State of Oregon. When we have an opening, we evaluate whether or not we can be of assistance to the
child by:
- The impact this child will have on the other children here at Kleos
Children's Community.
- Our relationship with our surrounding neighbors.
- Do we have the resources at hand to actually help the child?
Kleos is not a "beds for dollars" operation that takes any child they can get and settles for whatever results that produces. We desire to choose for success whenever we can.
Some of our kids are placed by the State of Oregon. Most of these children
have been placed with Kleos Children's Community because they have been abused, neglected or orphaned. Our staff has developed an excellent working relationship with the child care workers in Oregon.
We receive about 15 calls per month from family, friends, churches, employee referral agencies, etc. to
ask for private placement of a child at Kleos. If we take
in the child, the family is charged based upon the child's needs.
Monthly
Charges
Kleos Children’s Community does not have a set rate that applies to
all applicants. Monthly charges
are determined for each child based on his/her needs, and to the extent
possible, the family’s ability to pay. The
cost is generally $1600 - $2000 per month.
However, in extreme cases, the cost may be significantly higher or
lower. For all that Kleos Children's Community provides, our child care rates
are kept at a minimum (one of the lowest in the United States), &
subsidized by our generous Contributors.
We know that most families are not able to cover the full amount to
place a child at Kleos Children’s Community.
Many families have rallied support from their family, church,
friends, businesses, etc. to supplement what they aren’t able to pay.
This fee provides for clothing, food, housing, daily care, community
events, yearly vacation with Kleos family, etc.
Parents are responsible for medical bills above what the child’s
insurance will cover.
